Explorer

The Explorer panel contains a list of all items inserted in your catalog. The item you select appears in the Main Screen panel for viewing and editing.

Control Buttons

You can see the following controls on top of the Explorer panel:

• Field Selector (drop-down box) - Click this button to see a list of all data fields available in the database. The field you select will be used to list the items in the Explorer view. All underlined fields have an alphabetical sort index (displayed in list mode, see below).
• Select All (button) CTRL+A - Selects all listed items in the Explorer panel. This button is available only in list mode.
• Tree/List Switch (toggle button) - Switches the Explorer panel between tree and list mode. The button is red in tree mode and gray in list mode.
• Expand/Shrink Switch (toggle button) CTRL+R - Switches the Explorer panel between normal and expanded mode (list mode only). In expanded mode, the explorer view covers the entire Main Screen and displays multiple fields for the available items.

Tree View Mode

Basic Operations

• Left-click an item to display it in the Main Screen.
• Right-click to access the Explorer Context Menu where you will find commands for adding, duplicating, deleting and disabling catalog items. Some of the commands are also available in the File menu.
• Click the item title once to change its name (the value of the displayed field is altered as a result). You can change the name of a folder (category) in the same manner.
• Double-click a folder to expand/shrink.
• To move an item to another folder, click its icon and drag it to the new location.
• You can't delete folders (categories) directly in the Explorer view. A folder is automatically deleted if it doesn't contain any items.
• You can create a new folder by assigning a unique value to the Category field of an item, or by using the Explorer Context Menu

Explorer Context Menu

Right-click in the Explorer view to access its context menu. The following commands are available:

• Add CTRL+N - Adds an empty item to the catalog. The new item appears at the top of the list in the Explorer panel (tree mode only).
• Duplicate - Select this command to duplicate the selected item. The duplicated item has the same contents as the original. If multiple items are selected (in list mode), only the last one is duplicated.
• Delete CTRL+DEL - Deletes the selected item(s) from the Catalog. To delete multiple items at once, go to List View Mode and select multiple items. You can not restore an item once it is erased!
• Add Category - Creates new category (folder) in Explorer View.
• Add Category Description (shop/lister) - Creates category description record that can be used on shop and catalog lister pages. For each category you can create one record (item) with literal name '%Category Description%'. You should think of the '%Category Description%' record as special record; this is not actual item record that will be shown in the items list. This item contains description information about the category itself. You can use some or all of the fields to type some text that will describe the category - use 'html description' or 'short description', or whatever (except 'name'). And the information inserted in this record is used to describe the whole category. For example, use 'short description' in '%Category Description%' record,and type some info in it. If you then insert 'short description' on shop/catalog lister 'main' page, the 'short description' from '%Category Description%' record will be displayed here.
• Rename - Renames the selected item field value.
• Enable/Disable current item in webside (Publish Online) - Makes the selected item visible/invisible in the website when published online.

You can access the same Add, Delete and Duplicate from the File menu.

List View Mode

The list view is available by pressing the tree/list mode switch (see Control Buttons above). This mode lists all items available in the catalog as a sorted list depending on the currently selected display field.

Basic Operations

• Left-click an item to display it in the Main Screen.
• Hold CTRL key while selecting, in order to select multiple items.
• Hold CTRL and A key, or use Select All from Edit menu to select all items.
• Some of the fields contain an alphabetical index displayed on the right side of the Explorer view (as you can see on the picture). When you click a letter from the index, the first item to start with that letter is automatically selected.

You can add and remove the indexing service from most of the field types (see Adapt Screen & Database).

Expanded List View Mode

In list mode, the Explorer can be expanded to display the values of multiple data fields at once (click the Expand/Shrink switch, see Control Buttons above). The fields that show up in the expanded list mode depend on your selection in the fields list (click the Fields button - ). Place a checkmark in front of the fields you want to see in the expanded list, and clear the checkmark for the fields you want to hide. You can also sort the list (alphabetically) according to the values of a specified field. Click a column header (which displays the field name) to select it as a source for sorting. The field values in the selected column will be displayed in black to indicate a successful selection. Sorting will not work with fields that do not contain a sorting index (you can add indexing service to a field from the Adapt Screen & Database mode). Some special fields which contain non-text data (such as images, web pages) will not be displayed in list mode.

Search/Filter

You can use the Search field on the bottom of the Explorer panel to look for items matching your search criteria. Just type a text in the search field and the Explorer will always select the first item in the list matching the search. You can switch to Filter mode as well (click the F toggle button). In filter mode, the list view displays only items that start with text you've written in the search box (all other items are hidden). The search and filtering functions are non case-sensitive. If you find that some items are missing from the list as your work in the Explorer, verify that the filter switch is off.
