Available Field Types
This page describes the various field types you can have in a database (Contact or Catalog database). Some fields can hold numeric data, other can hold text, HTML data etc. Many field controls also have a special function - like displaying a calculator, a calendar and other helpers for entering the required data faster.

This is a generic text field. You can use it to enter names, addresses, product titles etc. This field has no special function. |

This field can contain generic text data just like the Text field. Its special function is the drop-down list, which shows a list of unique values selected in all the records (in the same module). This makes this field useful for holding values shared by many of the records - like State, Country (in a contact record) or Category (many records can be in the same category) etc. | |

This field can hold integer numeric data. The special function displays a calculator below the field. Click OK (the checkmark icon) to accept the new value, or Cancel (the trash bin icon) to get back the previous value. | |

This field functions like the Numbers field, but can hold fractions as well. |

This field has only two values: TRUE (checked) and FALSE (unchecked). You can alter the value by clicking on the check box. This field has no special function. |

This field functions like the Floating Point Numbers field, but also displays a currency sign once the value is set (after you press Enter to confirm the change). The currency sign and positioning depends on your Windows Regional Settings. For USA regional settings, for ex., the display will be: $12.34. Note that two digits are supported after the decimal point. You can enter more digits after the decimal point, but the value will be rounded after you press Enter to confirm the change (for ex. 12.4567 will turn to $12.46). |

This field can hold a date (birthday, creation date, subscription date etc). The field control displays the date in format: [Weekday], [Month] [Day], [Year] (the format may vary slightly depending on your Windows Regional Settings). You can select any of the date elements (except weekday) and use the up/down arrows to increase/decrease the value respectively. The special function displays a calendar view. The current system date

| This field can hold a time. The field control displays the time in format: HOUR:MINUTES:SECONDS AM/PM. You can select any of the time elements and use the up/down arrow to increment/decrement respectively their values. You can also use the spinner button (on the right side of the control) for that purpose. | ||

The Notes field can hold multi-line text data (non formatted). It is suitable to hold text for news articles, reviews etc., when the Text field functionality is not enough for the purpose. | |
| This field is suited to hold telephone numbers (including mobile phones) and fax numbers. The special function (accessed by pressing the telephone button on the control) will launch and dial the contained telephone number with the Windows Dialer application. NOTE: You will receive an error message if Dialer is not installed on your computer. |

| This field is designed to hold an e-mail address. Click the special function button (the envelope icon) to launch your default e-mail client with the address written in the field control. | ||

The Image field can hold image data (like photo in your contacts or product picture in the catalog items etc.). To import an image to the field, right-click and select Add from the popup menu. This will show the Image Edit Wizard where you can resize, crop and retouch the image, and also apply a range of special effects. Delete - Removes the image from the field; Preview - Opens a window with the image scaled at 100%; Save As - Exports the image from the field as a Windows bitmap (*.BMP) image; Copy to Clipboard - Copies the image to the Windows clipboard (select Paste in any image editing application to retrieve the image from the clipboard). |

The Web Editor is capable of holding HTML formatted text, pictures and plug-in objects. For more information see Web Editor. |

The MP3 File field is capable of holding audio files (.mp3) |
