Forms

Forms are used to gather information from site visitors that they enter into the forum. They can even be inserted into the template editable area and include Request, Newsletter, Login or Tell a Friend forms.

The widget is not displayed in EDIT mode. Switch to BROWSE mode or make an offline preview to see the widget in context. While in EDIT mode you will see this icon:
To insert a Form:
  1. Position the cursor | where you want to insert the widget.
  2. Go to Editing Tools.
  3. Click Widgets button and select Forms.
  4. Select the type of form to be inserted.
  5. Adjust the form settings (see below) and press OK. You can change the settings later by double-clicking the widget icon while in EDIT mode.

Form Settings

Double-click the widget icon to open its settings. The window has three main tabs.

Form Layout

Set the form layout - add and remove fields, text and other content using the toolbar at the top.

To the right is the 'Macros Field' panel, these differ depending on the type of form you inserted. To add a field item:

  • Click on a macro.
  • Notice the data entry boxes below the list changes. If required set a name and other values appropriate to the field.
  • Drag and drop it on the LAYOUT window where you would like to add it.

You can save the layout as a preset, using Save As Preset button, and later use the preset for other forms.

Settings

Common settings

These settings are available in all form types:


  • ID (edit box) - Sets ID for the request form. This ID is used internally and must be unique in the page. Do not change it unless you have good reason for this.
  • Title (edit box) - This setting offers advisory information for the form. The title is used internally.
  • Name (edit box) - Sets name for the request form. This name is used internally and must be unique in the page. Do not change it unless you have good reason for this.
  • Height & Width (edit box) - Sets appropriate size for the form area. height and width are set in pixels. Use % if you want to set it in %.
  • Float (drop-down menu) - This attribute allows you to wrap text around the form element. You can select between None, Left and Right.

There are a number of predefined form types as described below:

Request form

Note that you can add request form either by adding Form Widget, or by adding Request page. The advantage of widget is that it can be added in any page type.

Newsletter form

Note that you can add newsletter form either by adding Form Widget, or by adding Newsletter page. The advantage of widget is that it can be added in any page type.

Login form

The Login form is a web form containing only two fields - username and password. When user logs in, he will be redirected to one of the protected pages in your website. To better understand EZGenerator concept on page protection, check Page Protection first.

Tell a Friend form

The Tell a Friend form is a web form for users to send short messages to their friends, making recommendation for your web site. The form contains few fields - your name, your email, recipient email and message. All of them are required.

Page URL along with a default message is provided in the message box, double-click on the field to check it. You can change this message.
