Text Formatting

Text formatting in EZGenerator is similar to working with a rich text editor. This page describes the text formatting functions in the Web Editor.

Text Style

You can find the text style selector on the Main Toolbar of the Web Editor. Normal is the default text style, the other styles include several various size variations of the default style: Sub, Normal, L, XL, XXL, XXXL. The list also contains the custom styles created by the user, if any.

Select Add/Edit Style option from the list to launch the Font Style dialog (see below), where you can add an additional custom style to the site or edit existing styles.

New Font Style

Each style defines formatting for text, hyperlink, hyperlink hover and visited hyperlink. The Font Style dialog contains the following controls:

  • Style (combo box) - Type a name if you will add new style, or select an existing style if you need to edit it. The default styles (Normal, L, XL etc.) are also editable.
  • Font (combo box) - Lets you select the font used for the style. You can select one from the 9 standard safe font groups, ensuring correct rendering for all browsers and platforms.
  • Font Size (combo box) - Lets you select the font size used for the style.
  • Text Color (preview box and button) - Sets the text color used for the style.
     
  • Background Color (preview box and button) - Sets the text background color used for the style. Use the None button to unset the background color.
  • Underline (combo box) - You can set here additional formatting for the text - none, underline or line-through.
  • Hyperlink Color (preview box and button) - Sets the normal hyperlink color used for the style.
  • Background Color (preview box and button) - Sets the normal hyperlink background color used for the style. Use the None button to unset the background color.
  • Underline (combo box) - You can set here additional formatting for the hyperlink - none, underline, dotted,overline or line-through. You can also set color for this additional formatting.
  • Hover (Hyperlink Hover) Color (preview box and button) - Sets color for the hyperlink when the mouse goes over it.
  • Background Color (preview box and button) - Sets the hyperlink hover background color used for the style. Use the None button to unset the background color.
  • Underline (combo box) - You can set here additional formatting for the hyperlink hover - none, underline, dotted,overline or line-through. You can also set color for this additional formatting.
  • Visited (Hyperlink Visited) Color (preview box and button) - Sets color for the hyperlink when it has been visited.
  • Line Height (number spin box) - Sets the line height in %.
  • Letter Spacing (number spin box) - Sets the space between letters in px.
  • Variant (combo box) - Select small-caps option, in case you need the style to be fixed with small-caps only.
Preview area is available at the bottom of the dialog box, where you can check how the changes will affect the style layout.

To delete an existing style, move mouse over the style you want to delete (to highlight it) and hit Shift and Delete buttons.

Headings

You can find the heading selector on the Main Toolbar of the Web Editor. The combo box contains six heading paragraph types (H1, H2, H3, H4, H5, H6), that will apply different heading formatting to the text you have selected.

Font Attributes

Use the B (Bold) and I (Italic) toggle buttons on the Main Toolbar to set the font attributes of the selected text.

Text Alignment & Indent

To align a text in your page, select a paragraph and click one of the align mode buttons (left, center, right).

To indent a text, select a paragraph and click the indent toggle button.

 

The alignment and indent settings also affect the positioning of other objects, such as images, plug-ins, flash objects etc.
